Studio J layouts

For Christmas this year I started scrapbook albums for all our childrens' families.  I was able to create pages specifically for each family of things special to their hearts.  Since I used a digital format, I was able to complete dozens of layouts in very little time.  So easy, so economical and so special!  You can enlarge each layout by clicking on it.

Gratitude

So thankful for a wonderful week with my son and his family from Missouri - lots of photo opportunities!  The grandchildren were feeling particularly thankful on Friday and decided to make Native American head dresses and on each feather they wrote down things for which they are grateful.  A nice reminder to all of us to make gratitude notes.  Click on the image if you want to see it larger.

Save the Date(s)!

I just love getting to make new friends at the Women of Faith conference every year and this year was no exception! If any of my new friends are reading this I hope that we will get to know each other better in the coming year!

I want to tell you in a nutshell what's coming up on the Paper Salutations calendar in October and November.  On Sunday, October 17th at 2:00 PM I am hosting my next Tweens Workshop.  We will make 3 paper projects and spend another hour or so playing games.  The cost for each participant is $7.00.

On November 5th and 6th I am teaming up with Sue Flemming (a Mary Kay consultant) for an Open House.  It will be a great opportunity for anyone who has not yet made it to a card workshop but is curious about Close to my Heart paper products, acrylic stamps, embellishments, tools, etc. to stop by and take a peek.  I will also have Studio J set up for quick tutorials and hands on experimentation by you!  A complementary make-and-take is included.

My next regular Card Workshop will be the weekend of November 13th and 14th.  As usual, take your pick of either Saturday or Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM.  We will make five cards for $10.

I will be sending my regular Facebook and email reminders of these events, but I wanted to give you a head's up so that you can plan if you would like to come.  See you then!

At Play with Studio J

When my granddaughters come to spend the night once a month we usually find something crafty to do while they are over.  It's so much fun for us to share a love of doing artsy stuff and they love it because I dive in there with them and get as messy as they do.

They started their own scrapbooks several months ago, but admittedly we haven't gotten very far with them.

Studio J changed all that.  Not only has Studio J made my scrapbooking life much easier, it is easy enough that they can enjoy the fun too.  They love picking out the kit, the layout and and then using the complementing Stickease alphas and stickers to build their pages.

Like me, they love the fact that they can save their work and come back to it at a later time.

Punch Storage - finally!

It took me several years, and lots of Tammy Nowatzki classes, to learn to embrace the value of a good punch. But now I have several and I've had a heck of a time figuring out how to store them in a space-saving, practical way.

I wish I could remember just where I heard about this idea, but I decided to try using a hanging shoe storage rack.

I used shoe boxes and then labeled the ends with punched images of the punches each box contains.  Have to say - it worked out way better than I anticipated!

For the Girls

I've had this idea bouncing around in my head lately that I should do something for girls 6-12 that love paper crafting.  After all, I have tons of stuff to share, enjoy their company and I am relishing the teaching.  I would have loved something like that when I was that age!

So, when a friend talked to me about wanting something for her daughter to do in the next week or two I felt like maybe it was time to give life to the idea.  This Sunday afternoon I'm hosting my first mini-class called Glue and Dip, because after we craft we're gonna jump in the pool.  It will give their Moms a 3-hour break and give me time with my Arizona granddaughters and a few of their friends doing the two things I enjoy most - swimming and making cool stuff.

This is one of the cards we're going to make from the Splendor Level 2 pack - don't you love that cloud paper?

A little help from Cricut

When our youngest grandchild, *Wyatt (aka Monkey), turned 1, I wanted to celebrate using the Monkey birthday theme.  I had envisioned this frame, but it took me a few tries to get it right.

With my Cricut, I used the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge for the letters, leaves and grass and topped it off with zoo-themed stickers from Michael's.

*Wyatt has given his permission to be featured in my blog with the hopes that it will catapult him into stardom!

Learning to Leap

As a relatively new Close to my Heart consultant I've been reviewing CTMH blogs, websites, tutorials and message boards in an effort to learn the ropes.  In the past few months I have saturated my craft room with new papers, acrylic stamps, ink pads and ribbon in order learn the product line.

To any of you who are viewing my blog, please be patient as I learn the ropes of blogging and figure out what you want to know and hope to see here.

I am quickly becoming pretty nuts about Close to my Heart products and I think you will too!
